Seasons Greatings
Written by JD

December comes upon us as the year end lurks around the corner. The days have grown dark, cold and weary as we scurry hither, thither and there gathering masses of merchandise to be passed on to friends, family and loved ones. … not necessarily in that order mind you. Suicide rates are up, interest rates soar too.  But people keep on trudging through the thick of it all anyway.

I sometimes wonder why. This is the season of goodwill and cheer but it’s also the season of depression and despair. It’s interesting that money doesn’t necessarily define which end of the scale a person resides though.  A person might have everything a person could want for and still be alone desolate from within. … and at the same rate, a person can be completely penniless and yet be completely filled with joy and happiness. ~ go figure.

So what is it? What defining element brings joy to one person and agonizing disparity to another? How can a single season bring such wondrous joy and brotherhood to some and such equally opposing sadness and solitude?

Who knows. While we’re all wrappin’ our noggin’s ‘round that (and dozens of trinkets ‘n stuff) we might want to take a moment out to go for a stroll or drive around town and check out the lights.  They make for a nice warm ‘n fuzzy feeling this time of year. … all perdy ‘n stuff.  Just remember to be polite to other drivers, do your best not to obstruct neighborhood traffic or blind the households with your headlights if the neighborhood is a crawl-speed and you’re pointed at a household.  Basically, just try to think of others and maybe this season might go a little smoother than last.

Happy Holidays.
